Geoscience Support Services provides slant well technology for Doheny Desalination Project
San Dimas, CA, October 31, 2022 – Geoscience Support Services welcomes the recent approval of the Doheny Ocean Desalination Project, creating a reliable and drought-proof water supply in South Orange County.
“A key enabler of this project is the slant well design and construction method that Geoscience has developed.” says CEO, Mark Williams. “With more than 40 years of California water basin experience, we developed best-in-class slant well technology to produce reliable water quality and quantities from submarine aquifers for desalination projects.”
Slant wells are drilled entirely from land, which minimizes their footprint on the shoreline, while positioning the ocean water intakes under the sea bed eliminates impacts to marine life. This innovative technology has proven successful in test projects off Dana Point and the Monterey Peninsula.
Slant wells are the preferred seawater intake technology for desalination plants under the California Ocean Plan.
“We are happy to contribute to creating a sustainable water future for Southern California,” concluded CEO, Williams, “and proud that a local company can provide such innovative technology.”
